Supportive Roommate/In Home Respite Providers

Position Summary: The Supportive Roommate will be subcontracted to provide support to an individual with a developmental disability in your home by promoting and encouraging life skills and development. The Supportive Roommate provides support in all activities of daily living which may include, but not limited to, budgeting, laundry, household management, hygiene and making/attending medical appointments, planning and preparing healthy meals, and providing emotional support and opportunities for recreation and leisure activities.

Youth Program SupervisorNEW

We are looking for a highly motivated and committed leader to join our Residential Support team as Program Supervisor. If you feel you can make a real difference to the individuals we support, by adding value to peoples lives and working with them to achieve their goals then this role is for you.

As a Program Supervisor you will incorporate front-line supervisory functions and direct support/service responsibilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise staff in various situations to ensure effective and efficient implementation of polices and procedures
  • Act as the team resource for relevant policies, procedures, legislation and regulations
  • Act as the principle liaison between staff and senior program management
  • Contribute to the development and management of team scheduling
  • Participate in the community to encourage and support community options
  • Recruit new employees and conduct orientations of the agency and the program
  • Participate in development of Individual Service Plans and Positive Behavior Approaches

You will bring:

Formal Education: Post Secondary diploma/degree in Social services. Child /Youth Development, Community Rehabilitation, Disability Studies, or a related field.

Experience: 3 to 5 years experience supporting individuals in a community setting. Experience dealing with youth with challenging behaviors is a must. Some supervisory/administrative experience.

Hours: Individual must be able to work flexible hours.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • A positive attitude and belief that with specialized supports youth can develop skills towards independence; An understanding of the opportunities and options available to disadvantaged youth
  • Demonstrated supervisory, leadership and team building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team- oriented work environment
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be able to identify issues, set priorities and implement an appropriate plan of action
  • Well-developed reporting and computer skills

Community Disability Practitioner (Residential Support Worker) in the Complex Needs Program

Community Living Alternative Services (CLAS) is currently seeking individuals to fill the position of Community Disability Service Practitioner in the Residential Support Program (Complex Needs).

Position Summary: The Community Disability Service Practitioner is a front line position responsible for the provision of day-to-day, hands-on support to individuals with developmental disabilities and behaviours of concern. Individuals live in a community based group living environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Able to Identify behaviors of concern and implement support plans
  • Assist and support individuals to access and participate in the community in a meaningful way
  • Assist individuals in the development of social skills and meaningful relationships
  • Be aware of and adhere to established policies, practices and operational protocols.
  • Assist in or provide support in personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, and grooming when needed

You will bring:

Formal Education: Post Secondary Education in Social Work, Community Disability Studies, Criminal Justice, etc.

Experience: A minimum of two (2) years experience supporting individuals with complex needs. Experience dealing with challenging behaviors a must.

Hours: Individual must be able to work flexible hours, including, overnight and weekends according to shift schedule.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to confidently provide front line, face to face support to individuals with varying challenges
  • Proven ability to work with mental health concerns, self harming behaviours and aggressive tendencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations

Formal Education: Some Post Secondary Education. Formal training in CPR and First Aid an asset.
Experience: A minimum of six (6) months experience in providing support to adults with mental/ developmental disabilities. Experience dealing with challenging behaviors a must.

Ability to confidently provide front line, face to face support to individuals with varying challenges

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations

Positive Attitude

Basic computer skills

Strong time management and organizational skills

Position Summary: This is a front-line community disability services role that has responsibility to support and facilitate the development of skills and competencies that will assist persons with disabilities to pursue and fulfill their goals, objectives and aspirations.

You will bring:

Experience: A minimum of six (6) months of experience in providing support to adults with mental disabilities.

Hours: 30 hours per week. Flexible work hours, can be weekdays or weekends, days or evenings.

Ability to confidently provide front line, face to face support to clients with varying challenges

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Basic to intermediate computer skills
